Dr Roderick Borrowdale

Dr Rod Borrowdale is a Brisbane educated surgeon who has been providing specialist surgical services, including gastrointestinal endoscopies, on the Redcliffe Peninsula for over 25 years. Dr Borrowdale completed his medical qualifications, MBBS (Hons) at the University of Queensland in 1984. In 1992 he completed his advanced surgical training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and other affiliated South East Queensland hospitals.

After being admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), Dr Borrowdale travelled to the United Kingdom and in 1993 underwent two years of Post-Fellowship training at the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke. During his time, he worked with world-renowned Colorectal Surgeon Bill Heald, and esteemed Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgeon Myrddin Rees.

After returning to the Greater Brisbane area in 1995, he was appointed Director of Surgery at Redcliffe Hospital. For many years Dr Borrowdale taught RACS courses such as Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) and Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST). He continues to work as a Senior Instructor for CCrISP courses.

Dr Borrowdale operates at Peninsula Private Hospital, North Lakes Day Hospital and Redcliffe Hospital. He consults at North Lakes Specialist Centre and Peninsula Specialist Centre, Kippa-Ring. Dr Borrowdale also enjoys his role as an educator; he is regularly involved in educating trainee surgeons, junior medical staff, and medical students from the University of Queensland.

Speciality: General Surgeon

Dr McGregor completed his Medical Degree with first class honours from the University of Queensland. Following this he completed and was awarded a PhD from Monash University. He completed his advanced surgical training at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and at various hospitals around the state. As well as many broad general surgery terms, he completed subspecialty training terms in paediatric, vascular, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, bariatric, breast, endocrine and colorectal surgery. He also trained in colonoscopy and upper endoscopy and is certified in both by the Gastrointestinal Society of Australia.

Dr McGregor is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery. He is a member of the Breast Section of the RACS, General Surgeons Australia and sits on the Qld Regional Board of General Surgery. He is the Director of Surgical Training at Redcliffe Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at The University of Queensland. He is a busy dad with 4 young children.

He thoroughly enjoys the challenges and variety of being a General Surgeon. He has a particular interest in advanced laparascopic surgery, including hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery & bowel resection. His other main focus and interest is caring for ladies with breast cancer.

Speciality: General Surgeon

Dr Daniel Mehanna is a General Surgeon and Gastrointestinal Endoscopist with a special interest in laparoscopic, colorectal and hernia surgery. Dr Mehanna obtained his medical degree from the University of New South Wales and trained in various hospitals including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

After completion of his General Surgical Training in Australia he worked in Scotland for his fellowship year before settling in Queensland. Dr Mehanna has a keen interest in teaching and education and the Director of Clinical Training at Caboolture Hospital, a Senior Lecturer (University of Queensland) as is member of the Academy of Surgical Educators. He prides himself on delivering a professional yet personable service to which his patients can relate.

Dr Craig Harris is a Colorectal Surgeon consulting and operating at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, St Andrew’s Hospital Brisbane and North Lakes Day Hospital. Dr Harris is Brisbane born and bred. After completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland with first-class honours, Dr Harris decided to pursue a medical career.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney again graduating with honours and subsequently returned to his hometown of Brisbane. General surgery training was undertaken through the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and its affiliated hospitals. Subspecialty colorectal surgery training was then completed with national and international colorectal surgery fellowships in high volume leading colorectal surgery units, namely Christchurch Hospital New Zealand, Concord Hospital Sydney, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney. This provided extensive experience in all areas of colon and rectal surgery.

Dr Harris practices broadly across all aspects of colorectal surgery with a particular interest in laparoscopic and robotic colorectal cancer surgery, pelvic exenteration, inflammatory bowel disease and benign anorectal disorders. He has published and presented internationally on the outcomes following pelvic exenteration surgery for recurrent rectal cancer. Upon returning to Brisbane Dr Harris was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland. He is accredited with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) to perform colonoscopy and endoscopy and is a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).

Dr Harris is pleased to provide an all-encompassing colorectal service to patients of all ages. With consulting rooms at North Lakes, Chermside and Spring Hill he is able to offer patients a wide range of convenient options for initial consultations, procedures and subsequent follow-up.
